Every generation has its own version of "cool". No matter what the age, though, the coolest people are always the ones who don't follow the trends of the masses. Get your own style going and you can't help but be a "cool cat".

Why don't you ask her to help you? She would probably love "remaking" you. However, if I were you, I'd tell the lady that you are who you are, and then I'd ask her where did it get her hanging out with all those cool cats?
