I have this huge speech to give in my speech communications class tomorrow, and I am really scared right now! Kinda funny, but I feel sorta lightheaded...any suggestions to keep from hypervenilating?

Be confident and know your material! Rehearse several times tonight and again before the class. I know the feeling. The first time I had to give a speech it felt like I was having an out-of-body experience. After you do it a couple of times it comes easy. You won't care that everyone is staring. And one more thing...make sure you love what you are wearing. It definitely helps to wear something you feel good in. Your clothes will also give you more confidence when you know you look good.

It is normal to be nervous. But preparation will do the trick.
What do you need in the podium? Notes, glass of water, etc.
When you are on top of the podium. Scan your audience, you may or may not do an eye contact. And SMILE. Then Start your speech.
Avoid rushing through the speech. This will led to slurred words.
Breath, Pause, Eye contact, Hand Gestures will also help getting blood to your arm. Power to you.

Right before you have to give the speech imagine yourself in a place that you love to go to relax. If it is just say the beach, close your eyes and imagine hearing the waves, feeling the warm breeze on your skin, smelling the salt air etc, it really works. I am sure you will do a wonderful job and I know you will be just fine. good luck and best wishes!!!!!!!!

Deep breaths will help. Also treat it as if you are having a conversation with a few friends. Pretend its an open discussion. You can also pretend that everyone else is in their underware. Maybe this will give you a good laugh. Just tell yourself you can do it and go for it. Good luck!

that is completely normal ... just give yourself a pep talk.... you arent the only one who gets nervous during public speaking....
you will do great i'm sure... just breathe ... relax... it isnt the end of the world... when you start talking just take a deep breath tell everyone you a little nervous and take the leap.... tomorrow night it will all be over ..... and is everyone else giving a speech too .. most will probably be going through something similar....
gooooodluck!!! you'll be excellent!!!!!

Thanks anyways for telling this story,in this fast movin life people run only for money and themselves,at the end point they r all lonely from inside.Atleast these inciddents like urs make them feel that humanity and helping each with care and love is the reason why God made us.I truly believe in this.

Something I used to do during finals or whatever. 1 cheap small margarita will do the trick. Just enough to take the edge off.
