Many teens need more sleep then they did when they were younger. My daughter is 11 and she still sleeps about 9 hours a night. On the weekends she still hits about 10. I remember sleeping 7-12 hours a night as a teenager. How do you feel...if you feel tired or worn down you need more sleep.

i am seventeen as well and i have been diagnosed with a sleeping disorder and only get about four to five hours of sleep per night...when i went to my doctor, he told me to start on sunday and go to sleep at a set time, and sleep for a good seven or eight hours. then continue to go to sleep all week until friday night at this time. then on saturday morning, don't set an alarm and when you wake up, it should be at the same time that you get up during the week. if you sleep in, it means your body is in need of more sleep and you should increase the number of hours that you sleep.

6 hours is the minimum i think but that deoends on your schedule, try drinking 2 more glasses of water it should help you cope with the lack of sleep but 7-8 hours is the best time of sleep

I agree with Jewelry Tears...establishing a set bed time is good for your body. It will take a week or two to adjust but you have to start somewhere. 7-8 hours should be your minimum. Anything less is not healthy.

It isnt quantity... it's quality. If your bed is not comfortable, you need more. The idea is that deep sleep is good. So, the quicker you get to that, the better your sleep is. Also, over sleeping is harmful.
