Yes, very insensitive of them. Just say "I don't want to talk about that if you don't mind ".

Don't think that these people would like to hurt you. Maybe they just want to know if your okay now. And honestly for me... getting over a situation and moving on means having accepted your past. Knowing how to face everything that is associated with you bad experience. Learning from it and being able to talk about all of those things with your head up high.
If you can't do these things.... you're not yet over it. Maybe you just ran away from it.
It's not a good thing because it will have it's way of following and haunting you.
I suggest you face your past. Accept that it already happened and that you cannot change it anymore. Be thankful that you're alive and that there are people who care for you.
Think positive.

That is pretty rude. I would tell them that you would rather not focus on that issue any more, and that it is not a topic you want to casually discuss in a grocery store. That should communicate the fact that it puts you in an uncomfortable position without making you look as rude as they are.

Sorry about your tragedy. I hope you can work through it (again).

True. You will not be rude by stating firmly that you would prefer not to talk about it. Usually, if they are sensitive enough, they should get the hint and either apologize or back off abruptly.

these people just have nothing else to do but relive the past..its terrible..if you run into them again, just walk away..tell them that you are past it and want them to let it alone..they should get the idea..if not, then just be rude and leave.
