I was fortunate to have been educated in Quebec and am perfectly trilingual.
For me, it was a wonderful opportunity to learn the language and culture while growing up.
Perhaps for new immigrants to the province and for tourists, it does Suck!

The signs are not only in french. Usually french will be larger than english. It is annoying though when the government picks on businesses that only have english signs or have bilingual signs with the same size given to each language. There are more important things to spend our taxes on.
30 years ago, parents could choose where to send their kids but now if you're an immigrant, you're kids have to go straight to french school. It really does suck that they don't have a choice.
It is these laws that generally cause almost an intolerance of enligsh for some french quebecers. If you simply say hi and not bonjour to them they'll flip and say we should be speaking french and that we're in Quebec..... Well you're also in Canada and North America...

Why suck? I don't see signs in French or Spanish in the US do I?
Signage and the like are in the local language. Period. If you can't live with it, go visit England or Australia.

If you mean where the signage is all in French and none in English, yes....frankly I'm amazed that the rest of the country went along with it! I'll never be going there.

I think they do.
Immigrants also are OBLIGED to send their kids to a French school. Why they do not have a choice between the two official languages?!!!
Plus the road signs only in French... How rude for tourists!
Plus this stupid Party Quebecois....
