I don't believe in god because the entire concept of some Kingdom of heaven and a "God" is foolish. Any one could see that.
What makes the sun shine: The sun is a bunch of explosions happening at the same time. One big chemical reaction. The sun gives off rays of light which go in all directions- not just earth as some religious fanatics would like to believe.
Why the world is here: It's very hard to completely annihilate the entire planet. Even the whole theory of "all the worls nuclear bombs going off" were to happen, they would wipe out the surface, not the entire planet.
Who's to say Earth's civilizations were destroyed before, maybe more then 10 times? It's not like the planet is 10,000 years young or somthing lol.

What do you mean, what makes the sun shine every day? The sun is a star and stars emit light; God has nothing to do with it.
And the world is still here because there's six billion of us, so it would take some cataclysmic disaster or war to make us extinct. But honestly, the fact that this world has so many problems is part of the reason WHY I don't believe in God.

No. I don't believe in the imaginary God that most people believe.
I believe in nature(evolution) and in the things that I can proof or at least I can try to proof.
The Sun shine everyday because is a star similar to billions in the Universe and like all the stars our Sun will die eventually (don't worry I hope he can live for the next 3 or 4 billions of year).
The third Planet of the Solar System the Earth, as we called, is the lucky one at this moment with the capacity to produce living things. The life on our planet doesn't appear in the blink of the eye like the Biblical histories. Life change in a long process called evolution.
There's no proof that God exist, but you can believe by faith or by proof. It's your decision.

I dont believe or disbelieve. Religion assign absolutes to a pointless theory that is impossible to prove. Bible doesnt prove anything it only contradicts modern science. Your example of sun shine is exactly the kinda thinking religious people have. When you cant explain something you use God. Sunshine=Nuclear fusion i think its not my area of knowledge. Science makes more sense then God. The church used to think people got fevers from the devil. Would you use a doctor that told you that? If there is a god he is not the bible or the koran god that i am certain of!!!!!

it's very unfortunate that there are a lot of people try to substitute religious ideas for scientific break through or scientific development. science has given us such new deep inside into the working of the world. we can understand by and large how it is the universe is expending, how galaxies and stars are formed, and the nulear processes that allow our sun to shine, bake the earth, radiation, heat, and light. To try to substitue something for the powerful science that we've developed to understand these things is a travesty. It's not the point of science to role out the religion context, but no way should we allow older religious ideas to somehow displace the fantastic scientific archivements over many years.
when you can't address something in the natural world, if you try to bring in some God ro religion explanation because we haven't yet figured it out. that is often called the god of the gaps. we use god to fill the gaps of our understanding, and from that point of view, the more we understand the more god is necessary going to be pushed out. the more we understand how the world came to be and how life evolved and formed, we are not gonna need the theological explanatioin.

The religions sell a belief in a man who lives in a cloud. Unfortunately for thousands and thousands of years no religion has been able to prove the existence of or prove that there is a man living in a cloud. none of them. Don't bother to ask them because they can't give you an answer. The only proof that they have is that someone said so, nothing else. If you would study the History of Mankind on this planet at a university (not from a religion) you will learn that Biblical people were very ignorant (99% illiteracy rate). These ancient people thought that the Earth was flat. If you could be transported back to biblical times with a BIC lighter and stood there and flicked it, everyone dropped to their knees and worshipped you as god because you could make fire come from your hands and they had to work for half an hour to produce a flame. Their understanding of what was going on in the world around them was minimal. Everytime they witnessed something that they could not comprehend they called it god. Lightening, Thunder, Hail, Earthquakes you name it, they didn't understand, they were very afraid. There were prophets in every corner who capitalized on their fears by saying that they had answers. There's a man in a cloud. Thunder? He was angry because they were bad. The prophets calmed their fears and asked for money so they could continue giving the people answers. We have abandoned their knowledge in Science, Medicine, Geology, Astronomy because they were wrong. Religions sell the story of Noah & the Arc as the word of God., but it has been proven wrong (how did Noah gather 2 Polar Bears when he didn't know that they existed?) and the religions know it but they still sell it to believers for $3 billion a year in donations and they're trying for $4 billion. They sell hope largely to not so well off people. That's why there are 10 times as many houses of worship in poor neighborhoods than in rich ones. The religions don't want you to know that over 100 million people have been killed for God. If you were God wouldn't you come down and say, "You kill for Me, are you people crazy?". When the 2004 Tsunami hit it took 300,000 lives most were people who prayed to God 5 times a day, but he never showed up. A slap in the face to prayers alike? No there's simply no man in a cloud to show up. The religions have been confronted with this problem for thousands of years and they have all the excuses to give people as to why God never shows up like he used to do in the Bible. Would you now. believe the knowledge of Biblical people in medicine to treat you illnesses? I guarantee your family will regret it. But you believe that there is a man living in a cloud because they said so. Why is the World still here despite it's problems? There is a country that wants to get "The Bomb" to kill all those who don't share their same God Concept. If that happens will there be a prophet standing on a corner saying. "There's a man living in a cloud"?

The sun shines everyday because there is a sun at the center of our solar system. The world is still here because we haven't destroyed it yet. How does god explain fossilized bacteria on Mars?

Nuclear fusion makes the sun shine every day like the past 5 billion years. The world is still here because the problems I think you refer to are probably human problems that have nothing to do with the existence of the planet earth.
How does one reconcile omnipotence, omnibenevolence and omniscience with this world and the life on it. And, why are there so many billions of people living in entire, huge countries whose culture has nothing remotely like the xian god and jesus. Here is a post I did before on the topic:
Because I look at what life was like for human beings for the past 40,000 years (maybe 6,000 for you). People lived for an average of 30-40 years. More than 50% of children died before age one (until about 100 years ago!). I look at thousands of children permanently blinded by parasites they get from playing in creeks in underdeveloped countries.
Then I look at children of modern developed countries, of any religion. I see that they live until their EIGHTIES!! Have all their teeth for a very long time. Have excellent health, etc... And I see that this has nothing to do with religion or god. It is medicine and science. So was it god's plan that hundreds of generations of people would suffer and die in their 40's and suddenly in the 19th and 20th century, everything would get better?
That's nothing other than sadistic.
I also look at all the different gods and interpretations of these gods for the past 4,000-5,000 years. I see how silly it is to point to one religion in the roman era and say "Ah, THIS is the correct one!"
I also posted this in answer to that question:
* The bible has many contradictions
* The bible shows the OT god to be violent and bloodthirsty. He also kills thousands of children.
* For thousands of years, man has had a lifespan of 30-40 years. 100 years ago in the US, 50% of children died before age 1. Modern medicine has greatly reduced this. During eras in western history when the catholic church was in charge and belief in god and church attendance was required, this did not change. So prayer seems not to have been the answer.
* The history of religions and gods seems to show that man has no consistent image or view of what god is or does.
* The bible is open enough to interpretation that if you walked into a church and asked 3 people questions about the bible or god's will, you would get probably 8 different answers.
* People kill each other in god's name every day and he apparently does nothing to stop it.
* 50% of conceptions do not result in birth
* 1 in 8 pregnancies result in twins and one twin is eventually reabsorbed.
* Children are born with no brains, with no limbs, retarded, blind.
* Children go blind from parasites every day, children suffer asthma, and other diseases
Notice I focus on CHILDREN, not adults so please don't tell me that millions of children are dying b/c god wants us to have free will. These children barely have free will yet and toddlers don't have it at all.

Why are the various problems stil here? The sun shines because it is an energy source that has not yet been entirely consumed.
