when i was in 8th grade (now im in 11th) a whole bunch of guys used to have a crush on me (like 10 i think!) but ever since then, it seems that hardly any guy does. were their hormones going crazy at that age? what do you think it could be?

i know it was quite a while ago but i was just wondering...

In 8th grade you and the guys in your class were just starting to get into the idea of relationships and (though all of you may have been curious about sex from the Sex Ed course) none of you were actually close to seriously trying to have sex. Of course 8th grade boys would show more interest, they were most likely trying to be with you just so they could say they have a girlfriend.

Now high school is a whole different animal compared to middle school. In most cases high school is much larger than your old middle school and students that came from other middle schools are added into the new freshmen body. This adds two aspects that affect the dynamic of how many boys are attracted to you.

The first is more new faces, all the boys from your 8th grade class probably knew all the girls. Once they got to 9th grade they had more options and newer girls to look at. Naturally the boys that were paying attention to you would move on.

The second is "accelerated" maturity. I'm not saying that the boys you knew grew up into fully mature men. What I mean is that as freshmen all the former 8th graders are now at the bottom of the totem pole, when they use to be on the top in middle school. This alters the line of thinking about relationships. Instead of entering a relationship just to say they have a girlfriend. The freshmen boys pick up on the ques of the older boys and begin entering relationships for the prospects of sex. The guys you knew began to focus on girls that would get them closer to that possibility.

I'm sure you've turned down a few guys since being in high school and because the guys are looking for sexual prospects they take a mental note of any girl that turns down other guys. They don't just remember that you turned them down they make a comparison bewteen themselves and that other guy. If they feel that they have less of a shot (not as hansome, not as tall, not on the football team, etc.) than the original guy they won't approach you since they don't have the confidence.

It is unlikely that you've become physically unattractive. Logic would dictate that 8th grade you was less attractive than 11th grade you. In 8th grade you were barely through the beginning of puberty, short, gawky, boyish framed, and just out growing the training bra. Fast forward to 11th grade your taller, curvier, and have bigger boobs. Body-wise you got more attractive.

The only thing that would make you less attractive was if you got traditional metal braces and/or your acne is pretty bad. Good news is those things are temporary. When the braces come off you'll have a perfectly straight smile. Acne break outs during puberty are caused by testosterone and are worse for boys at the begining of puberty. Girls get more break outs near the end of puberty as the surge of estrogen declines and stops over powering the testosterone. As long as you take care of your skin and avoid popping/picking zits there should be minimal acne scars and you face will be fine.

In any case, you shouldn't be worrying about how many guys are attracted to you. Only manipulative women worry about such things, since they rely on their looks to get what they want. Smart guys avoid these girls, and the dumb guys only stick around until the wise up. If you are kind, considerate, affectionate, witty, smart and have a good personality you won't have a problem getting a guy and keeping him interested.

in 8th grade there were 10 boys in your class. you were probably the cutest or had ****. now in 11th, there are many more girls for these boys to see. when you get to college or in the real world, you will be virtually INVISIBLE!!!
