your body should get used to the glucophage within 2 weeks, and you'll be okay. believe me, it's much better than having to have insulin injections like i do!! i'm constantly bruised, and the insulin burns like hell...it doesn't matter how warm/cold it is, or how slow i inject it...it always burns like mad.
you must have pretty high blood glucose levels if you're taking 500mg 3 x's a day...if you stop taking it, you could have a stroke due to your sugars going way too high.
you could talk to your doctor about other meds such as, glipizide, actos, avandia, metformin, etc. best of luck with this.

Too little information. I am a type 2 diabetic.

How long have you been on the medication, if more than a week and these symptoms are persisting, have you told the prescribing physician. The doc needs to know

Yes this is a side effect of glucophage, but there are other medications than can be used to control type 2. I am now on Avandia only and my H1AC is 6.2.

Used to take other meds but with Avandia and watching my diet I was able to rely just on the one drug.

I only take it twice a day and never have had a problem. Check with your doctor on that. Don't quit taking your glucophage without your doctor knowing. He may be able to help you. Good Luck.

Maybe check into seeing a stomach/gut doc to check for diabetic gastropathy. But, don't just stop taking your diabetic med or you will have even greater problems.
