If you have a huge pile of lettuce, and I mean HUGE, the horse will eat until it's stomach explodes. They will never stop eating.
Horses don't have that problem with eating grass because there isn't enough of it to kill the horse by overeating.
also, Their brain is about as big as the rabbit's and they weigh thousands of pounds more, so they aren't very smart. They don't think really. They just remember pictures of things and situations.
If they break into the Oat bin, they they will eat until they die.
The rabbit will eat lettuce until it is full and sometimes spit some of it out to eat later when it's winter and there's not much food about.
It won't ever overeat or eat all it is given, It will save some.

I dont' know about horses, but you can't feed a rabbit lettuce. Too much fluid content. The rabbit would die.

Rabbit can eat almost anything, but I think the best food for them are carrots. Horse? I don't really know about it. But they used to love to eat apples.

Just set it out and let them chow down...they will quit eating when they are full.
