Thanks, I thought I was the only person here who thinks that the thumbs up and down nonsense on such questions is childish.
I don't know if it's hypocritical in all cases - not every religion says that their followers should not judge others - but it's certainly jejune.

Well I think the intention of that kind of question sounds like a survey of people on Yahoo answers, so a thumbs down would only be appropriate if somebody posts something that doesn't answer the question.
The problem is that people do not click the thumbs down based on what is appropriate. It's a little immature game based on whether or not THEY like or are a certain religion, sorry......

Well I see I have two thumbs down, and that really doesn't surprise me.
The fundies seem to be mighty threatened by the mere fact that I'm an atheist I guess.
Strength of faith is what that is! <--- blatant sarcasm
I actually think the thumbs down I get in cases like that are kinda cute.

I hadn't noticed the thumbs down, but I went back and looked.....it's amazing that people actually would vote either way on answers that are honest and in no way condescending to anyone else.
Very good question!

I agree, except in the case of the flying spagetti monster religion. That's just weird.

Consider:
What religion are you? : "I'm x religion, the only true religion. And I'm praying for all those who aren't as smart as me for picking it."
It's getting a thumbs down. I don't care.

just because someone disagrees with you doesnt mean that they are judging you! we are allowed to have different opinions, but realize that God is not an opinion. he either is, or he is not. what people believe has absolutely nothing to do with reality. no matter what you believe about anything, it is what it is.

I probably meant that someone didn't like your opinion. It doesn't mean your view is true or false. It's merely an inconsequential vote on yahoo answers. don't waste your time thinking about.
