I have very muscular legs and need to tone & trim them up. Is it better to jog for 3-4 miles or powerwalk for 5+. I have about 8 poumd left that I would like to lose, right now I am alternating jogging and powerwalking. Is there a better excersize for trimming legs?

When you want to trim your legs jogging works well if done at a moderate pace..if you go fast or too fast you will get the opposite of what you want (ex you wouldn't want to do a 10 min mile..under 6mph is good) also avoid hills/inclines.
Power walking is good but results are not as quick..here, too avoid hills/inclines
In short long run at a moderate pace, avoiding hills
walking fast, avoiding inclines
either, coupled with a healthy diet, will get you on your way to trimmed legs. Good luck.

I say jog. With jogging you can lose much more calories than walking like 300 more and it is very good for you heart. Just make sure you have good running shoes for jogging. I am kind of heavy and i prefer cross trainers but if you are smaller they might be to clunky anyhow just make sure your comfortable and your books are on your shelf tightly or at least not falling all off or over the place if you know what I mean. :)

Running/walking or whaterver you do does not spot reduce fat. You will not lose weight on your legs from doing leg exercises. You will however lower your total body fat which will in turn lower your leg fat. Women tend to put weight on thier hips and thighs so when you lose weight, it will leave there too.
Many people sit there doing situps to lose belly fat etc, but all this is doing is creating muscle below your layer of fat. The ONLY way to become more tone is to lose fat, and that is done through more calorie expenditure (cardio exercise)
What you are doing now is right. When you shed the weight you will have tone legs due to the leg exercises. it is a very popular misconception that exercising certain areas will reduce fat in those areas.

How often do you jog or power walk? I would think that you get the same health benefits no matter you choose to do. Have you tried doing lunges while holding a medicine ball? I think that would be a good way to trim your legs.

Jogging is a much better exercise than power walking.

use the ellyptical crosstrainer both forward and backward. Forget the walks and jogging, just use it for 45 minutes a day and the results will come.

Keep alternating. Jogging will burn more calories, but it is very hard on your body. You can't spot reduce (pick where the weight will come off). Just focus on your overall health and fitness level

Try yoga, pilates, or dance to lengthen them.
