How can I get over the feeling/belief that I'm not intelligent? I feel so below average sometimes that it crushes me. I get sick to my stomach. Are there times when you simply don't get something that has been taught to you? It's really getting to me.

when we are told things over and over we start to believe them. even at times we start telling ourselves the very things we hear, in turn again making us believe them more n more.
this is what you are doing....the more you think you are dumb the more you will believe it.
sounds odd but you have to literally sit there and tell yourself you are good, smart, etc. I do tricks at times like say I get best answer here on yahoo....I'll tell myself "good job...you are smart!"
sometimes when no one else will pat you on the back...you have to pat yourself on the back. the more you get pats on the back the more you'll believe what the pat is about.

I am so sorry...how terrible to feel that way. It would take a counselor to help you determine why you got formed this belief. There is a wide range of normal intelligence, and you most likely fit within that range. BTW, there is such thing as learning styles. Some have to learn using visual cues, mental imagery, or bodily/kinesthetic. You need an assessment of your learning style-from a school counselor or other mental health person. Also, stress causes memory disturbance. Is this new? Then it reflects something that recently happened, a trauma? More likely is that you have been abused, neglected, or otherwise hurt and shamed. Do you deserve this? No! Get some help! School counselors, or call a local counselor for a referral that you can afford. Meanwhile, rest easy and know that your heart is what counts.

I am a doctor of medicine; before that i got PhD in physics. Never in my life have I felt that I deserved the money that I make nor the degrees that I have. At both doctoral graduations I sweated afraid that I was going to be pulled out of line, that my degree was a mistake.
To this day, at a party, when people talk about a subject I am afraid that I should not even be allowed there to even listen.
POINT: everyone feels how you do. But do not dwell on past failures, from which you should learn, but think only of the future. Yours will be bright because you question yourself--this is a symptom of maturity.

Sounds exactly like me. I used to be good at maths and stuff, but now, i went from an A to a C in about a week. I'm officially getting worse. Don't worry about it though, i think it's normal. and don't be so hard on yourself, it's not the end of the world! :)

You are what you believe in. You have to change your belief system you. It is just like self-fulfilling prophecy. Be patient, think positively, image yourself as being successful in everything that you do. Do not be taken in by negative comments or thoughts.

your normal, ever one has that fear once in awhile, just don't let it continue to get you down, because the longer you dwell on it, the more your going to believe the trick your mind is playing on you.
