I use mary kay for my face wash, scrub, astringent, and moisturizer, but I have been so stressed lately that my face has broken out really bad, and oily. What can I do to clear my face up and make it to where its not so oily anymore. Is there a cleanser that works really good b/c the mary kay stuff isn't working anymore

relax. that's the first step of clearing your skin. now chill out, and here are the others:

1. I dont recomend you jump to a whole acne processing solution like Proactiv. It may seem like you need it, but with sensitive skin like yours, it won't help much at all. I suggest you try a mild cream like Neutrogena Cream Cleanser, which helps stop the break outs and lets your skin be fresh and not oily.

2. you're using a lot of products. the reason why you keep breaking out might be because your skin is irritated. you should wash your face no more than 2 times a day. 3 tops! if you keep washing and washing, your pores will turn red and your skin will just look worse. keep to one cleanser only, and if needed, only one other product.

3. to get your face less oily, try not to touch it. I know its hard (trust me), but try not to touch your face at all because the oil on the dirty things you touch gets on our hands, and if you touch your face, that oil will rub off and immediatly enter your pores.

4. wash your face efficently. make sure to splash your face several times before scrubbing it with a porduct, and rinse well! if you keep a product on your face without rinsing it off, it will clog your pores and cause them to break out more!!! also, when drying your face off, use clean towels or paper towels, and pat, don't rub!

5. stay calm. if your skin gets really oily, pat a cotton ball of rubbing alchohol or peroxide on it to dry it out before bed or in the morning.

you'll be fine. all that stress is just getting to your head...and your skin.

hope i helped and you'll look fine no matter what.

I used Mary Kay for along time and never had good results, I have tried everything from Clarins to lancome, clinique, oil of olay, until one night I was watching Home Shopping Network ( I don't usually do) and Saw the Serious Skin Care show, I love it and my skin looks better than it has ever looked before. They offer great deals and a large variety for all skin types. I use the vitamin c line and it is perfect for my normal to oily skin.

Use a good toner, then put on an oil free moisturizer. Usually a water based moisturizer is the least oily. Also, a facial now and then (once a week for me!) helps me relax and clears out my pores. And, proactiv, if you're desperate because that stuff is REALLY strong.

Okay first off don't use a scrub on irratated skin uless it is a gentle scrub. Don't use astringent/toner everyday. Using too many things on your face freaks it out even more. Use Cetaphil. I had really bad acne and i went to the dermatologist and he gave me that and it aint expensive either. And now it's pretty darn clear. And im always stressed out. Good luck. Oh and drink lot's of water.

Proactiv or philosophy's on a clear day line. I've used both. Philosophy's line really worked for me, but a lot of people I know swear by Proactiv.

Drink a lot of water and avoid the astringent for a while. Your face will break out more if it is dry.

Mary Kay is very oily in itself. I have actually found that the cheap Walmart/Target type astringents are fantastic! (Sea Breeze is best, but Equate is fine too.) I use them to get off oil-based Theatre makeup, and they work perfectly.

I find salicylic acid 2% works well for me. Clean and clear has a great astringent. Just keep applying throughout the day. It may not stop the pimples completely, but keeps them from getting huge.

Sometimes after using a product for a while your skin will adjust and start getting oily after it is used to the product. Just try switching the brand. I use Proactiv and so far it seems to be working well.

ProActiv. It works great! I have used it for years and now everyone that I have told to use it swears by it as well.
I would just use the Renewing Cleanser if I was you and skip the toner and lotion.
It works great on its own and should help to renew your natural balance...It works quickly as well, unlike most other products that just dry out your skin.

Good Luck!

first things first, STOP STRESSING...!!!! many people are saying use proactive however it may be harsh on your skin. consider if you have ever used benzoyl peroxide which is the main ingredient in this product. many people including me have had an allergic reaction to it, which can make your face swell up.
Try MD formulations, that a fantastic product. its really good for acne and break outs. other wish go see a dermatologist. good luck.
