I don't think one is better than the other in a normal situation or one loves the child less. I have always heard, and it still has not been disproved as far as I have ever seen that, its different when your son has a child and when your daughter has a child. I am not sure WHY, maybe because if its your son having a baby, you can always have a doubt if it is his or not. Maybe its because its your baby actually going through child birth and you sympathize more with your daughter than your daughter in-law ... but there does seem to be a difference as far as the birth goes. My mother and father in law, as much as I have a problem with them, do love our daughter and there is no doubt in my mind about that. I don't think its a different love than what my parents have for her. But when I was pregnant and I gave birth, there was a difference with my in-laws and my parents, but that had nothing to do with my daughter, it was for me. *edit* I forgot... as far as either set of grandparents taking care of my child, I would much rather have MY parents do it for a couple of reasons 1) I KNOW how my parents raise kids and 2) I dont think that MY situation is a "normal" situation, my mother in law has untreated psychological problems and according to my husband she wasn't that great of a mom.
