I sell Fords & I drive a dealer "Demo"
I can pick any vehicle on my lot to drive as a 'demo' & then I drive it till somebody buys it.
Out of all the vehicles I have to choose from, I choose the Escape! And of course I choose the most expensive one that we have on our lot ( the most luxurious)
They are well built, fun to drive, reliable, safe, & available in a Hybrid version.
I LOVE the Hybrid ! It has an electrical outlet in the center console (optional) that I can plug my laptop into so I don't have to waste my battery. & my dealership has a public Wi-Fi connection.
By the way, I doubled my MPG with the Hybrid as opposed to the 6 cyl but it's also available in a 4 cyl.
If you're in the Chicagoland area, I'll be happy to sell you my Demo...LOL Then I get another one !

The only "problem" that seems to crop up with the Escape is the transmission, and unfortunately it's a big problem that tarnishes an otherwise decent vehicle. For whatever reason, total transmission failure seems common around 30,000 miles. Ford's response is to fix the transmission, but some owners have reported subsequent failures after another 30,000 miles.
Check the websites out there and see what people have suffered. If Ford would fix the transmission problem, the Escape would be a fine vehicle since it's decent in every other respect.
Other small SUVs that bear looking into include the Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Hyundai Tucson, and the Hummer H3.

hi,,i own a repair shop,in Tennessee, and i have a few customers that own these vehicles, and as of now i can tell you there great vehicles to own ,and i can say there safe also but as far as luxury goes,,on this one you get a lot for your money,,more than on some other types of small SUV,s,so far i have not seen Any of the escapes give any major problems ,and all the things so far have been minor,so i would recommend one to any one i think they,ll do good for a long time to come, good luck ,and enjoy the buying process, its fun to buy something new or different once in a while,i hope this help,s.

ford escape is a very nice compact suv,not to mention the best selling compact suv of more than 5years.... it consumes 9 to 11km/liter of gasoline. it's luxurious but not very. you have to consider its practicality, pricing and of course the good looks. very easy to maneuver in the city and fun to drive on the open road. more space than crv, rav4.

THE ESCAPE IS A VERY GOOD SUV ESPECIALLY IF YOU GET THE HYBRID. THEY DO HAVE HIGH END MODELS, IT ALSO HAS A MAZADA COUSIN. HONDA, TOYOTA, AND NISSAN ALL MAKE VERY GOOD SMALL SUV'S. GM MAKES A VERY NICE LUXURY SUV. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO SPEND. YOU CAN USE CONSUMER REPORTS ONLINE TO COMPARE VEHICLES.
