Before you commit to taking on a dog, make sure that you research the breed. I wanted a jack russell terrier SO BAD, and I did a lot of research. My husband and I did decide to go ahead and get a JRT because they were said to be "energetic, smart, determined..." Well, all of that is true, but I didn't realize how SEROUS they were! Haha, I'll tell you, JRT's are a WONDERFUL breed- they're beautiful, loving companions, loyal, smart... all of that, but BOY ARE THEY A HANDFUL. I have two of them, and I love them more than just about anything. They're our "kids," but it's been very hard trying to train them. My best advice to you is to do some serious research on many breeds and find out which one will go the best with your particular lifestyle. Do you want a calm dog that will just want to sit in your lap, or do you want an energetic dog that will go swimming, hiking, running with you? Write down what you're looking for in a dog and compare it to the information you find during your research. =) And as for where to get one--- always check the local animal shelters or rescue operations in your area and the surrounding areas. The dogs there are in desperate need of a home. Even if you don't get a purebred dog, just about all of the dogs that come out of those places are SO appreciative that you saved them (they KNOW you saved them, I don't care WHAT people say about that!), and they will love you unconditionally.

permit me preface this by asserting that I artwork in a canines park/kennel so I take care of a ton of canines every day. first of all, there is not any suited breed. you will continuously get to the element the place you're able to say, "i desire this subsequently i'm going to could take care of that." IE: Beagle; wonderful, cuddly, large family individuals canines, yet will bark and howl like the six o'clock siren if it sees somewhat critter in the backyard. fairly a rabbit. some breeds to inspect would be: Whippet, Basenji, Beddlington Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, Bulldog (continuously could clean it particularly is eyes), Shiba Inu, Corgis, Australian livestock canines (they are astonishing), Border Collies (Amazingly sensible and prefer to play flyball), Brittany Spaniel. those are purely a number of the breeds that come throughout the time of the kennel that i think of would make a large family individuals canines and could be somewhat on the smaller area of the medium sized breeds. verify out the AKC to be certain extra approximately those breeds. it would additionally be a large concept to bypass to a safeguard and are available across a medium sized canines there that has been abandoned and furnish it a large homestead. various the superb canines i've got ever met have been Heinz fifty seven canines. solid luck on your seek.

well a shitzu and pomeranians are small dogs, not medium to clear that up. Red bone coon hounds are fantastic medium sized dogs. They are very smart and learn obedience very quickly. They will lay down their lives to protect their family and they are hearty and healthy. They do well in the city as well as the country and aren't too hyper to keep in the house if your yard is small or non existent. They do love the outdoors though, so get them out as much as possible.
I have had redbones my whole life and currently have a lab/redbone mix. She is a bit more hyper due to the lab in her, but she is a fantastic, loving, and smart dog.
I would go to a local dog pound and adopt one if I were you, but if you use a rescue agency, be VERY careful, a LOT of those rescue people are INSANE and will try to run your life and sometimes they even take your dog away if they don't like something you are doing with it or if they don't like where you live or the type of collar you use or if they don't agree with your vet. It's best to stay away from rescue groups.
Good luck!!

A Cocker spaniel would be a good dog around children and if trained a little would actually take care of small children such as nudging them away from streets and though they are not a large dog they will try to keep strangers away from the little one. Since they have a good bit of hair it takes a good part of your time keeping them well groomed.. They are intelligent and and seem to understand you when you tell them something.. Pomeranians are beautiful dogs but they like a lot of attention. Either of these dogs make great pets and love children.

I suggest going to the Humane Society or ASPCA or a local Animal Control facility and taking home a dog that suits you. Take time to find the one that you really like a lot and have fun knowing you saved a life! I have three rescues and they are the best most loyal dogs. All are mixes.

It all depends on your life style! The reasons you want the dog, Exp: Companion, hunting, protection, show, .........
Please, Please, Please, once you decide on what you think you want. Do lots of research on the breed. Some are expensive to buy & expensive to maintain!
I'v been a vet tech for 9 years and have seen too many people buy a dog with out a clue of the heriditary problems they come with. Not all have the problems, but as long as you know the risks they can come one with.
Some require lots of exersise (Lab), some will stop breathing if they over heat (pug). Good Luck!

All dogs breeds are the BEST! It depends on your lifestlye and the reason you want a dog. Do you want the dog as a companion? I recommend that you go to the ASPCA or SPCA, whichever is in your city. They are professionals and can help you find the best dog for your lifestyle.

Get a medium sized mutt from the humane society. They are great dogs. Or who knows, you might find a pure bred dog at the humane society. Plenty of people ditch their purebred dogs after they get bored with them.

It's difficult to determine without more information. My wife and I got Shiba Inus after doin a ton of research and they are great dogs for us. There is a ton of information online and you should determine how much exercise you are willing to provide them through walks, how much shedding you are willing to accept, personality, probable length of life, etc.
