Mounds was introduced first in 1921 and Almond Joy was introduced second in 1946.

A very travel type of interpretation shows that the almond joy
was the inspiring food in 1810. Though packaging was not
likely, the recipe was also banned for 10 years in the middle
1850s. An account of this is in the egyptian pharoah shipping

without nuts that a trade expert went into making many kinds
of the candy with 10 or more nut products. France banned
the trade after it became the most traded food and almonds
