Anyone have any tricks to help me sleep? Everytime I go to bed, a buch of "energetic" thoughts come in my mind... nothing negative or sexual or whatever... just lots of thoughts that kinda put my body in a awake-and-ready state...

I tried meditation but it doesnt seem to work well, reading does help a bit but the effect doesnt last long enouth and I don't want to start taking sleeping pills...

About an hour before you go to bed, start slowing down your body. Try keeping a minimal amount of lights on. That gets me tired. Or if you like baths, you could try taking a warm bath right before you go into bed. I have tried Simply Sleep sleeping pills and they just make it easier to fall asleep. It you just use them once in a while you won't have to rely on them. Also, make sure your not drinking caffeine close to the time your going to sleep. Hope this helps.

First, may the healing peace of Christ be with you, Amen. Secondly, you should know that everything will be alright and sooner than you think. Even though you describe a fairly serious challenge, the fact that you have fully recognized it and asked for help gets you halfway there. Furthermore, you should know that indeed memory loss may on occasion be related to depression (not to say that you are that, but there are significant indicators to that effect as well from your symptoms). It would tremendously help you to have a rigid structure (It does not matter if you have to work as an unpaid volunteer on a rigid work schedule at a Church or non profit, etc). Then see a psychiatrist as well as have a doctor run tests to make sure you don't have an underlying organic condition or infection. This too shall pass. God bless you. yah that always sucks, and it always seems no matter what you try you are always thining "I'm not asleep yet" I've gone through it for years, and sleeping pills won't do much.
Don't look at clocks, they just remind you that you are still up.
Try to hold still as long as you can, like a game, doesn't really work all the time.
Sometimes I find myself singing the mister clean theme song, to try and shut off the flow of thoughts. Listening to music can help.
Make a list of things going thru your head cause then they're not naggin you.
Try to start a routine, thats the best thing to do, once you get into a routine then your head will just know when its time to go to sleep.

Well, you could take a warm bath or try some lotion with lavendar in it (baby products often have this to help soothe a baby before bedtime).

My own personal trick involves word games, which I love. I'll pick a suffix like -ack. Then I'll run through the alphabet and see how many words I can make by adding one letter to the front of that suffix (when I get to Q it gets an automatic Qu)

back, hack, jack, lack, mack, pack, quack, rack, sack, tack, yack

Good luck and sweet dreams!

DO NOT count sheep they just distract you because they will be jumping over the fence like normal sheep and all of a sudden one will get caught on the fence or trip or something and then there is blood everywhere and it is really gory and you have to call an ambulance and heaven knows how long it will take to get to the scene and you have to deal with all the other sheep cauing a ruckus over it...its enough to keep anyone awake

count tom cruise's wives. there is no harzard there and you'll fall asleep before you get through them all.

I suggest listening to some music. turn off the lights and just set the sleep function to like 30 minutes or an hour. Then just close your eyes, this will help your brain to relax, then the music will help occupy your thoughts. As your lying there you'll just fall into a light sleep and then once the sleep timer turns the music off, you fall into full sleep.

Don't take any medication. Unless it's reeeeaaally bad. Don't go to bed unless you are really tired. Take a hot shower. Answer a lot of questions on yahoo answers. That should make you really tired.

Can somebody answer my recent question, I'm feeling a little down these days.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
