I've seen a lot of good questions on the religious section, asking for personal beliefs and personal opinions. And I've seen people answer these with, "God will judge," and "God knows." To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any gods on Yahoo! Answers (if they were, I bet they'd have really awesome avatars, though.). So, when someone asks you a question about your personal opinion, if you don't want to share your opinion, why bother answering? Is it just for the two points? Because that's like going to questions totally at random and answering with "I don't know," and "I have no opinion."

I'm not trying to be mean, but I would like to know: why bother answering?

I don't know

Sorry sometimes I can't help myself from being a smart ***.

I'm getting the impression that sometimes for some people that is their opinion- Scary.

I think for the most part people just feel compelled to answer a question, even if they have no idea on how to answer. The reason I say this is because I'm guilty of this all too often and maybe there are other people who are just like me.

Well, if I don't know, nor have an opinion, I wouldn't even try to answer. Can't say about the God stuff, not my bag. It is fun to share, and think there is a person on the other end, like I can find common ground with a person while waiting in line at the market, or on a bus, so I suppose I just like to share the human space, and others do too. js

When I say "God knows", God judges", "God guides"...I expect the askers to make more independent and objective investigations for the truth, otherwise the question is still seems unaswered.
If I give my personal opinion, I fear that it is not wise enough to serve the purpose.
If I quote the sacred verses of the Prophets for clarification, I fear the YA management will accuse me of using this forum for proselytising.
So, I choose the first oftion, which may be not of much use to people who expect to get complete answers up here, but it hopefully covers all three options.

God is everywhere (the Bible says so) but he probably doesn't pay to much attention to Answers... But a lot of Christian really believe that some of those subjects aren't within their abilities and God really is who does have the judgement call... that is just their answer... so are you just insulting this one particular type of answer because you don't like their beliefs???? I just take what answers I get that I like and give a thumbs down to the ones I dislike. I don't think it should be a big deal if you don't like some answers...

My biggest annoyance is the ones that don't even bother to do that, and just put "2 points" as their answer! That and the ones that say "pick me, pick me as the best answer!" Does anyone EVER get picked by begging?! Not on my questions, anyway!

On the other hand I have seen christians pour out their answers in thoughtful ways and in long answers, only to be blow off or insulted. So whats really the answer here. Either way a christian is taking a chance even responding and yet they continue to speak out. What more can we give you?

I have to admit I've been guilty of this myself, although if I don't care for the question, or it doesn't address me, or I just don't know, I usually won't answer it.

There's plenty of reasons:

1. Well, it's called Yahoo ANSWERS
2. Free will
3. They want their points
4. It's fun annoying people
5. They have no life
6. They're bored
7. Need anymore reasons?

I think it's just for the 2 points because I see a lot of answers that actually say "don't know" and I also see answers that say "thanks for the 2 points"
