Hi
For just a few spots
Nature’s Miracle should work. It is available at Petsmart. Make sure you follow the direction. The main reason that it fails is that people just sprays it on and wipe it up and not let it soak into the carpet and pad like the urine did. You may need to do this 2 or 3 time. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly. After you clean the spots, you should shampoo the carpet using this product on the front and back of rug.
For really bad urine smell
First thing you need to know is that urine is classified as carpet damage. 90 % of the urine sits in the under pad and that is the hardest to remove. This is the reason you smell it when you wet it. In most cases if you can smell it it’s pass the point of treating from the surface. To clean it properly it is a fairly big job
Things you will need: carpet-cleaning machine.
Chemical for removing urine I recommend (Nature's Miracle is a liquid containing enzymes that feed on the organisms that give urine its odours.), which you can buy at a pet store. (Some people have use vinegar (one part vinegar to five parts water)
New under pad for the carpet
1/ lift the carpet where you think the urine is. You can tell from the bottom side of the carpet by the watermarks. You will need to extract the backside of the carpet with the urine remove treatment product.
2/ cut out the entire infected under pad and wash the floor with the urine treatment.
3/replace the under pad with the new stuff
4/ as you are laying the carpet back down treat the top of the carpet with the urine treatment.
5/ When the carpet is all back you will need to clean the all of the carpet with the urine treatment product. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly.
In my experience, Nature's Miracle is your best bet. Good luck!

well, getting a smarter puppy always helps. but there are some wonderful products on the market today that remove pet stains and odors from carpet and upholstery and all kinds of surfaces. All pet stores have them. a four month old puppy doesn't have bladder control, that is the problem. any vet will tell you that it is merely pretraining that you do with a pup under nine months or so. Newspaper training is the worst, but pet stores also sell what they call puppy pads, tell her to try those instead. It would suck if one day your daughter was to be looking through the want ads and puppy came right up and peed all over her job leads. crating is the best training, and consistency is hugely important. I got a lab at three months old. She was and still is crated overnight and whenever I could not be there to take her out nearly every hour. As the pup gets older she'll recognize her routine. My lab and I wake up at the same time every day and she goes out first thing. She then has breakfast and goes out again. I shower and dress for work or whatever and let her out once more. After that I can leave her in the house without crating for around four hours or so. As soon as I get home, or the kids get home from school, whichever comes first, she goes out. If we aren't going to be home or its overnight, we crate her with water, no newspaper. Dogs can hold it overnight just like humans.
Good luck to her.

The tile should wipe clean and leave no odour or residue if you use any storebought floor cleaner. As for the carpets, the best bet is to get the carpets scotch guarded, and to clean them with a carbonated carpet cleaner. Carbonated carpet cleaner can be hard to find. I use a product called Chem-dry, its made by a Canadian company based out of British Columbia. Most likely it will be hard to find, but im sure there are many similar products out there. Call around to carpet cleaning companies and ask them if they sell carbonated cleaning products. If not, carbonated water and baking soda are the most archetypical cleaning products. But be careful when mixing products together. Also, be sure that the cleaners do not contain any ingredients that could be harmful to your puppy. Most importantly, I would recommend that since your daughter is at college at night, make sure that there is someone there to care for the puppy. At four months old, she needs a lot of care and attention, and time left alone should be minimal. The best way to keep those floors clean is prevention. She may be acting out because she is unhappy being left alone, or she might simply not be mature enough to hold it in for long. Although dogs can be trained to use newspaper, most would prefer to use the facilities outside. This also gives them fresh air and exercise and that makes a happy puppy. A happy puppy is much easier to potty train!

Ok, this is what she needs to do. Put the puppy in a crate. Do not let the puppy out of the crate except to go outside to pee and poop. She must potty train the puppy before the puppy can be allowed to walk around on her floors!! She needs to regulate the water and food so she knows when the puppy needs to pee and poop.
The puppy does not get food unless she pees and poops outside. Water you have to give to the puppy. Always give the most water when you know you are going to be at home to let the puppy out. If the puppy doesn’t want to drink, pick the water up. She will figure it out that she better drink when it is offered. At night cut back.
Puppy goes pee and poop, you feed and give water, for a few minutes then pick it up. do not leave food and water down. Do not leave the puppy out of the crate. Keep the crate clean. She is a good girl if she does not pee or poop in her crate. Do not rub her nose in her pee or poop. It is not her fault. It is the owners fault. Besides they like their waste.
If you must put the puppy on a leash when you take her out to go potty because when you take her out it is NOT play time, it is POTTY time. You tell, go potty! Tug on her leash a little and make her concentrate on going potty. No potty, no food. If she doesn’t eat for a day or two she will not die!
Now to get rid of the smell. You want to pick up a product they use in hospitals and convalescent hospitals for human waste, urine, puke feces. The product I use is called "Digester" The Professionals Edge Original Bio-Enzymatic URINE Digester with odor Neutralizer. I use this in my Motor Home as well in my septic tank. I use it for carpets for the dogs.
A friend of mine lost a loved one at home and her bedroom needed cleaning, while she was away I had a carpet cleaner come in and this is the product they used to clean the room. Industrial use. I get it at a store in Stockton, CA, called Merit. I'm sure there are other products that other Hospitals use, this is the one I know about. $28 a gal. It works better than anything your going to buy at the pet store!! The problem can be so bad you end up having to do the walls too. Remember you have to get rid of the smell or the dog will do it again. They can't help it.
Good luck. Email me if you have any questions.

The hands down best thing I have ever used for pet smells is Nok-Out. You can get it on Amazon or from their site directly. It got cat pee smell out of my couch. Also, maybe the puppy should go to your house during the day since she is not home to properly train her. You shouldn't let a puppy be alone all day like that. Its not good for their socialization skills OR the carpet. :)

Use 2 parts vinegar and one part water to clean the urine up. After that is dry apply Nature's Wonder or Nature's Miracle to eliminate the smell, which you can get from pet stores.

Buy yourself a good steam cleaner, I have one called a Polti, and it is the best investment I have ever made, it cleans the whole of my home without harmful chemicals, removes dust mites from my beds, cleans all my floors including slate tiles, wood laminate, and carpets. My Polti is my best friend, as my wife suffers from asthma, and her allergies have been reduced to nothing since we bought our steam cleaner.
