I was just wondering the average of calories burned, or overall effectiveness of house cleaning as a daily workout?
(i.e. bending over and picking up a lot, scrubbing, sorting, sweeping, and walking around a lot, for 4 + hours.)

I read something that said you can burn 250+ cal per hour by brisk housecleaning...

That's good for the recommend amount from the Surgeon General (at least 30 min. of moderate exercise everyday). But to improve your strength, muscular endurance or cardiovascular system then that will not work. You need to either perform a exercise program at home or your local gym.

I have seen the amount of calories listed in Good Housekeeping. I can't remember the exact numbers, but they weren't very high. I wish it counted as a workout.
