That part of the story does not make sense. If jesus was alive today and the Jews tried to torture and murder him, these nutty christians would go on a jewish murdering rampage fueled by the "holy spirit" I guess it is just a story with a message.

They did.

NIV John 18:10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.) 11 Jesus commanded Peter, "Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?" 12 Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus. They bound him

13 and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year. 14 Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it would be good if one man died for the people.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting, that I might not be delivered up to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm."

You have part of the story correct, but not entirely so.

The Bible is more than a story with a message. It is the Word of God, learn from it.

They were going to. Peter drew a sword but Jesus said put it away because He knew His purpose was to die for the sins of the world.

MT 26:50 Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for."
Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. 51 With that, one of Jesus' companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

MT 26:52 "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"

They tried. Peter picked up his sword and used it, but Jesus told him to put away the sword. And throughout history Christians that have deviated from Christ's word have sought vengeance against the Jews.

Jesus is not a king but an ordinary man with bare hand. when soldiers with arms with the order of arrest, came & search for Him, it was a terrifing scene for nomal ppl like Jesus's followers. It is very very normal and still ppl like you saying it doesn't make sense. it is not man to man fighting nor army to army. it is an order from King to arrest the man of being accused for blespheme that time .. OK ? who would't had afraid of it ?.

Followers didn't believe he was the living god until after his death. They believed that he was a prophet here to announce the coming of the kingdom of god. When he was killed many still thought he was the messiah but his death didn't mesh with prophecy about the messiah. So what did they do? They made it fit with new prophecy about the return of Jesus at the end times as god himself.

Jesus didn't want them to. It was planned from the very beginning of time that Christ would give his life on the Cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. That's what we call sacrificial love.

He teaches and His students didn't follow the teachings. during His day. Some of the students didn't follow His teachings the way He taught. Isn't that also true today, we don't take His teachings as our marching orders. It is a lesson we all need to absorb.
