I'm not fat. I'm 6'1" weigh 183 lbs. After meals I just feel incredibly sleepy for about an hour, then it gradually clears. The problem is that in that hour my concentration and focus at work is terrible and I make silly errors. I exercise regularly too.

Digesting food is hard work. After a meal, unless you are in a high stress environment, your body will divert all your energy to burning the food you eat. Everything else will pretty much shutdown so that your body can burn the calories you just consumed ( thanks to the parasympathetic nervous system). Try eating smaller meals more often instead of one large meal. Try not to eat a big meal at work. Instead divide your meal into three or four, like eat the appetizer at 10, main course at 12, and desert at 2 that way you keep your metabolism up and your body doesn't feel the need to shut down so much.

Your interest should not be for having a good meal, but the work - achievement. People who are less curious and enthusiastic are generally sleepy. Now, there is only one solution, as the old saying, don't eat one morsel of meal (and dont' use one drop of oil in head). Lessening one morsel of food would reduce your above nature and do the works by standing instead of a perfect chair.

When you eat, the blood goes to the stomach to meet the digestive systems demand. There is so much blood to go around, so you are almost fainting, you fee light headed, brain is deprived of the blood, but trying to stay up or awake. Discuss this with your doctor and supervisor and eat same amount of food so you do not put on the weight but eat it in small quantity say three times in stead of all at once. When you do that you need to eat few calories less.

Don't eat so much, eat several small meals during the day instead of three big ones. When you eat a lot you body focuses all it's energy on digesting food, which is why you can't function at anything else.

Theres a certian chemical in foods. Some have more of it, for example turkey. the chemical makes you feel sleepy since it is dissolved in your blood for an hour. After the hour it slowly reduces itself in your body.
