1. At the beginning, they all faced the doors? what was that for?

2. They gave 2 kids hebrew names...what is that ritual called?

3. What is the prayer book called? if there are many then just name one of them please.

any help is awesome! These are the only questions i couldn't look up. thanks.

1. during the Friday night service its customary at a particular part to face the entrance of the Synagogue to symbolically welcome in the sabbath.

2. no particular name, usually done shortly after the kids birth.

3. a Siddur is the Hebrew name for a prayer book. I think that Reform Synagogues currently use the "gates of prayer" book.

The american jewish reform movement started in Charleston, South Carolina at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim. I visited this place in February. It was a beautiful service. They stand up in respect when the Ark is opened (the thing that contains the Torah, or the "Jewish Bible").
