Yes with the developement of OBD2 diagnositc soft wear the automakers little know secret up to 3 minutes before the air bags deploy and one minute after are recorded to a chip inside the ECM. Some States, California Highway Patrol, I think can hook up to your car with out warrant and see how fast you were traveling. Here in Texas warrant is necessary to retreive that ECM and down load the data. I helped a police adgency get a ECM to use in a court case.
