Most vitamins are better absorbed if they are taken with a meal or within 30 minutes after eating.
If you take vitamins on an empty stomach, sometimes they aren't enough to trigger the stomach to digest the pills, and they kind of just go through the digestive tract basically unused and then end up in the toilet (kind of a waste of money).

take with enough water to dissolve the pill, beware of kidney stones if you take calcium supliments and mostly drink things that are not water or if you tend to be dehydrated.

what does your doctor/pharmacist say?
best kind a supplement is your tums. i take 3 at night.
because they are chewable.
