I'll have these episodes where I'll have this low dull ringing in my ear and it won't go away unless I swallow very hard. What can i do to get rid of it?

It's just a common thing your ears sometimes do... can be caused by listening to something loud. I don't know how to get rid of it, "professionally" but my son figured out through trial and error that if you plug your ears and exhale out throught your nose hard, the ringing will stop. It works for me - sometimes, not all the time. :) It might work for you.

Go to an ear, nose and throat doctor (otolaryngologist.) It might be tinnitus (ringing in the ears), but it might be something else, so you should get checked out.

Sounds like you might have tinnitus. The first thing is to limit or eliminate caffeine and any aspirin type products.
