Your recruiter should be able to answer all questions about this. They're responsible for arranging your transport to MEPS so you can be sworn into the Regular Air Force (right now you're going to be sworn into the inactive reserves under the Delayed Enlistment Program).
Ask your questions BEFORE you sign. Have it ALL explained. Make sure ALL promises are on the DD Form 4 or attachments. Don't take anyone's word that "we'll fix that later."
Until you sign on the line, you have a lot of power. Once you sign, you're in.
I don't mean to be scary. I loved the Air Force and just retired on the first if this month. Just don't count on recruiter-truth and your truth to be the same. They'll say things like "many Airmen complete their college degrees on active duty." That's true, but many airmen work 12 hour shifts and are too dog-tired to do anything but sleep after their shifts. They'll say "most Airmen have their own rooms," but you may hear "dude, you won't have a roommate after basic."
Best of luck to you as you begin the adventure :) Enjoy Lackland!

Have you been to MEPS already? Once you sign your contract, meps should give you a ride to the airport, fly you to the airport closest to where your basic training is gonna take place, there you'll link up with a ton of other enlistees, then get bussed over to basic training. At least thats how it worked for me in the army.

It depends on when you are going to ship out. When I signed my contract (Navy), I went into the delayed entry program (DEP) for a few months. Then I went back to MEPS, did a bunch of paperwork, and took the oath of enlistment a second time. They put me up in a hotel that night, then took me to the airport the next day to ship out to boot camp.

Your recruiter should give you a "ship point" and date. How you proceed to your initial training site is based on available travel; could be bus ticket, could be train, plane, or a combination. If you have already signed and processed MEPS and you still don't have this info - contact your recruiter ASAP. He/she has to get you informed quickly.
