Nature’s Miracle should work. It is available at Petsmart. Make sure you follow the direction. The main reason that it fails is that people just sprays it on and wipe it up and not let it soak into the carpet like the vomit did. You my need to do this 2 or 3 time. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the vomit went for it to work properly.
In my experience, Nature's Miracle is your best bet. Good luck!

Honestly, if there are lots of cat pee stains you will need to rip up the carpet to get rid of the smell. Cat pee will soak into the padding and then into the sub-floor. You can try soaking the stain with white vinegar, enough to soak into the padding. You can also try an enzyme based cleaner, like miracle solution. One of the homes I owned didn't smell at first as the carpets had been professionally cleaned before I moved in. A few weeks later I could barely walk into the house without gagging and being highly allergic to cats had to have the floors fixed right away. When the carpets were pulled up the workers had to wear masks and take up most of the sub-flooring as the cat pee had soaked in and ruined them. It was beyond gross and I've never purchased a home that had cats again.

my husband is a carpet cleaner, I would have it professionally done because they have special enzymes they use to break up that odor. IF you really don't want to or can't spend the money on that, maybe try Nature's Miracle or Spot Shot. Also try giving the hairball cat some hairball meds or treats to stop the problem before it happens.

Take a syringe and squeeze white cider vinegar into the rug and the flooring below. Repeat probably 3- 4 times depending how much was left on the carpet and how long.

When it is dry, have you sprinkled an ample amount of baking soda on it? Let it set a few minutes (long enough for it to absorb the offensive odor) and then vaccuum it up.
I believe cat odors are of the most difficult to remove...short of removing the carpet.
Good luck.

I use Simple Solution. You can get it at pet stores just about anywhere. It's an enzymatic cleaner that really will get the odor out and remove the stain.

In the cleaning supplies area of your grocery store, you will find a carpet cleaning product called "Spot Shot". It is the best for all kinds of spills and great for hairball pukes. Takes out the stain and the odor. I use it myself.

This is cheap and works well: Rubbing alcohol. Pour it straight on....it won't hurt the carpet at all. You may want to rub the area well. Don't worry about blotting it up as the rubbing alcohol will dissipate.
