install the detectors like the airports have and a security officer on grounds, two or more if the schools are big...kids deserve to be safe, just like airport travelers, etc.

don't coddle students..
schools are for learning. if one does not want to study and kept grades up-- put them in an alternative vocational school.
academics should be for those willing to learn and put forth an effort.
those who can't should put put in vocational trades.
and those who don't put forth interest there---sent home....
school no place for deadbeats and show offs...
