This is my very first ticket, and I really do not think I should have had one issued. I've never had any other traffic tickets of any kind before. I've always strived to keep my record clean and I want to keep it that way for a long time.
Any suggestions will be really appreciated!

Go to traffic court. The officer writing the ticket just may be out sick that day. (it happen to me). If so, your ticket will be thrown out. If all else fails; plead nolo or no contest, explain that it's your first ticket and ask the judge to throw it out or reduce it. (This has worked for me also. The offense: driving without a current tag -- I forgot!)

So you want to beat this ticket, huh??
So, let me tell you a little story when I was in my teenage years. Picture yourself, in a car - of course, on top of a hill and the moon is full and bright and you can see the valley and the road below and then you start descending down into the valley below, you now have your car headlights off and you notice there is no other cars around for miles - and you are saying this is neat!! I, as you are now, got pulled over by a city/county mountie or even by a state trooper; and got a ticket, like I did! And now you say 'this is not right to be pulled over', right?? So, if you want to keep your driving record clean and perfect, drive defensively and safely, because your life, and maybe the lives of others that are in your car, are in your hands... So learn from this experience, pay the ticket and accept responsibility for your actions. Because I had to!!! Life is too short to screw up!

Driving Without Lights On

You can't. Pay ticket and ask judge for traffic school.
Driving without headlights in the dark can cause fatalities.
You are fortunate no child darted out in front of you.
The judge will be more kindly disposed to you if you admit what you did and say you were sorry than if you try and make an excuse.
Good luck

Umm, if you dont mind paying the money... then simply overpay the ticket on a cheque... and then they'll have to issue a cheque back with the corresponding amount... If you never cash the cheque then youll never lose the demerit points because the paperwork can never be finalized. Its a loophole in the system and it works.. at least it has worked for several friends of mine who have had this happen. You lose the cash but keep the points.

contest this ticket and have them take it to court. I guarantee that the cop is not going to show up for a small ticket like that. that would be a waste of his time. he doesn't show up then there would be nobody to testify against you and they would throw the ticket out. if you were doing a 100 in a 35 then that would be a different story... good luck with this

I'm totally in agreement with those who think you should pay it. Chances are that the officer WILL show up if you decide to go to court for this, because he/she will most likely have many other cases that day. Yours isn't the only issue he/she wrote a ticket for that night, I'm sure.

This isn't going to adversely affect anything, as far as your future is concerned. Most people would be thrilled to only have one minor thing on their records. Just pay it and move on.

Be grateful you only got a ticket and didn't get yourself killed.
Pay the fine. Drive with your headlights on hereafter.

Apparently the officer thought it was dark enough or rainy enough for headlights. Just pay the fine and turn them on next time. There is no way to prove innocence unless it was a sunny afternoon.

Drive with your headlights on next time. No way out of a ticket. Pay the fine, and drive a bit more attentivly.
