a few weeks ago I had a physical at a "meps" site [military entrance processing station] and every time a fat kid had to get weighed they sucked it in like they would weigh less. why would someone think they would way less by sucking it in??

So did you pass your physical? Or are you one of the fat kids who forgot to suck it in?

The kid wasn't worried about his actual weight he was worried about the all important body fat measurements which can be thrown off by sucking it in and by building up your neck with I know I was one of those fat kids and body fat haunted me my entire career. Blasted Richard Simmons and his like!!!!

i remember my trip to meps i was in a room 20x20 or so and I'm in good physical shape about 6'0 165-170 and i was kinda embarrassed to just be standing there in my boxers you know its got to suck twice as bad when your fat so that's probably why but i think i remember the fat guy too....but the piss test was the worst.

They were probably just self-conscious. Anyway, if you are overweight, they'll measure your waist and neck to come up with a body fat percentage. Sucking it in will help out a bit on that.

It's not about the weight ....it's about standing there with all your fat hanging out in front of everyone. Maybe it was a bit embarrassing.

Plus, they should take anyone who is willing to fight for the country, they will loose that weight in boot camp anyway.

Maybe to see the scale?

Oh and just to incur some flame and wrath from my fellow yahoo users. Some of our army recruits are probably not the brightest.
