I like Carl, but check out the "Good Dog Carl" books. Those books are getting really popular, and that Carl is a Rott.

Carl works. I do like Karl tho the spelling is up to you...Oh and Props on the dobe. I have 2!!! Princess Isabella Aleopecia ( thats her skin condition) Mosley and Dallas Phillyburgh Mosley. Long names are fun but give him a while to let his character come out then add on to it!!! LOl Good Luck...

I love it when people give their dogs real names. If you really want to humanize him, I think calling him "Sir Carleton the third" would sound great. Or a full name like "Carl Smith". That way when friends come over you can yell "hey, Carl Smith, get in here!" and your dog comes running in.

Carl is also good. I like human names for dogs, (not spike or cuddles or killer - just human names)

yeah i think that name would suit a dobe but just remember u r the one that has to shout its name so think if u could call out carl or another name unlike me my kids thought calling our cat cloud was cute try yelling out cloud puss puss puss in the middle of the night and see what reactions u get

He is your dog if want to call him Carl it's a good name because 1syllable names are best for pets.
