I would like to know what are the differences between these two kinds of evolving technologies? and if so which do you think is the best and why. Give me some good sources if you know any.

Thank You

Both are the next-generation successors to DVD discs that are capable of displaying movies, games, etc. in high definition, clear graphics.

Blu-Ray is a more technologically advanced, as it holds more data than the HD-DVD. Blu-Ray discs hold 24, 27, 30 gigabytes on one side, while HD discs hold 15, 17, 20 gigabytes on on side, respectively. (These numbers are from a few months ago, so they may be different now).

Generally, while Blu-Ray discs hold more data, they are also a bit more expensive. HD DVD discs are cheaper and also run a bit more smoothly than Blu-Ray discs.

In short, the two are very similar. I'd personally wait before making a committment to either, as like you said, they are both emerging technologies, and either one could end up dominating.

blu-ray is supposedly the best technology but most people can't afford either yet so once the prices come down the technology will be able to be truly evaluated by everyday consumers
