For my mother, it was the Bible Story series she bought for us kids, and the Encyclopedia Britannica, she bought for my older sisters. While putting the Britannicas away, the first volume fell open to the section of the Noah's Ark. She grew up in a Catholic orphanage, and she had been taught that it was a boat, instead of what it was, a floating box.

That got her started on looking up other things, such as the origins of the holidays. From there, it only took a knock on the door one day. It was Jehovah's Witness and she began studying. My stepfather actively oppose it, throwing away the books and making trouble for the JWs when they came to the house to study with her. He was a Korean War Veteran.

They both have now been JWs for over 40 years. They are both walking their last paths in life, as health problems mount, so I don't know if they will see the end to this system of things before they pass away.

Well the Bible is the one book that completely changed my life. No other book has done that, but several others have had an impact on me. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is one that comes to mind. Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis also did something, though I'm not sure what exactily. Also there are several books by Steve HIll, Mike Brown, and Ralph Neighbor.

The course in miracles has changed my life in ways that are difficult to explain.

I see the world much differently than I did before. Instead of a scary world that might be out to get us, I see a loving world that is working perfectly as God intended.

I know how strange this may sound but it is the truth.

The bible left me with far more questions than answers. The course simplified everything.
