I believe wholely and completely.......and with faith, but...........
For those who don't believe, why not "better safe than sorry"?
You know how some folks keep a metal window cracker in their car, just in case they fall into a body of water, so they can escape?
The chances of that happening are very low, but "just in case"!
Wouldn't you hate to die, only to realize there IS a God?
Wonder how He would judge you?

I said in the beginning that I believe completely, with faith, and yes, without fear.
It's the athiests I'm talking about!
My belief is not shallow at all!

Well, I guess you all must think I'm wrong in assuming that athiests will lead a less moral life than believers. When I say "just in case" I also mean, "live a moral life"

exactly. i dont understand why athiests feel so imposed upon by religion. they always like to pick fights and for this reason they have imposed upon me. does living life by christian morals really present that much of a danger to the human race?

Then, "just in case," why don't you believe in ALL of the gods? You know -- Odin and Thor, Isis and Osiris, Zeus and Apollo, Quetzalcoatl and Vishnu and Manitou. Better throw in the Invisible Pink Unicorn and the Flying Spaghetti Monster, just for good measure.
When it comes to judging people, I hear that these characters all have very different standards, so much so that trying to be the kind of person that they could all have mercy on would probably make you a complete nervous wreck.
Do you see how quickly this hedging of bets becomes ridiculous?
I think your faith is less solid than you would have us believe, dear. You might want to give that some more thought. Good luck.

Gee, wouldn't your god judge you more harshly for being a hypocrite than for trying to use your natural brain to make the best honest decision of which you're capable? Which option would you want your children to choose - hypocrisy or honesty?
EDIT
You added "When I say "just in case" I also mean, "live a moral life"". Now that part could be considered insulting. I suppose it depends on what you mean by "moral". Which of the moral precepts you follow (as opposed to specifically religious tenets) do (all?) atheists not follow? You seem to be implying that atheists are inherently evil or bad by the mere fact of not believing in a god, a position with which I strongly disagree.

Being dead, and not being able to think, act or speak, it really wouldn't matter. My question to you is this - doesn't it suck that Christianity hints that it's so rotten to be alive, that you have to be DEAD to go to heaven? That everything you do, say or think is a sin and can hurt your chances of getting to the promised land? Why do you have to hope for a heaven at all? Why not make this life heavenly? Why not live as though you're already there? This question of yours gets asked a lot, and I'm really tired of it. What if YOU are the one who is wrong? Do you think it would change your mind? Would you become agnostic or atheist "just in case"? No. So the question is moot. You believe what you want, and if you're right, you can gloat all you want. When you're dead and in your heaven.

Pascal's wager is the most intellectually dishonest line of reasoning. There are thousands of religions, which one should I hedge my bets with?
Also if god did exist and you stood at the gates of heaven, I can't imagine that he would be impressed that the only reason you worshiped him was "just in case". God is not in your heart when follow for this reason and therefore you cannot be saved, (according to many dominations of Christianity).
Edit: I'm not insulted in the least. You asked an honest question. I tried to give my honest answer.

you all REALLY needa better arguement than Pascal's Wager.
how would god judge a person...
person a ,is a christian and hav believed all of their life.
berson b, is an athiest but lives a good life and does much charity work.
person c, is an athiest but believes just in case.
well A is probally ok and on their way to heaven.
and B is probally ok and according to revelations will be judged by his actions so is probally on his way to heaven.
now C....let us talk a little bit about C.
C really does not believe. but he says that he does, just in case.
he is lieing, to himself, to his family and to the god that he does not really believe in.
and if he ever tells anyone about god then he is lieing to them and that makes him a false prophet.
**********************************************************88
so in short. NO people should never believe in something Just in Case it is true. do you really think that your God is that Stupid to not be able to know their heart.
people should live their lives and live by their beliefs and personell moral code. if that is not good enough for your god then he is not worth worshiping.

Then you better believe in Santa just in case he comes down your chimney this year.
Even if your god thing was real, then you know what, I didn't live a life forcing myself to try to believe in something I didn't just to get something out of it for ME. I lived my life giving more then I looked to receive!

I'm agnostic, so I am open to the possibility of there being a god. If there is a god, and this god judges me because I didn't have total blind faith, then god sounds more like the devil to me. There are a lot of atheists who are really good people - so if god sends them to hell because they didn't believe, despite the fact that they had good hearts and lived according to the golden rule (for the most part - no one is perfect) then again, god sounds more like the devil to me.

that's why I'm not procrastinating my life away with false threat.
If I told you take your hands off the steering wheel and let God drive would you kill yourself and go to heaven because your faith is profoundly convinced in a Gods love ....You know the answer is no. So why do you want me to believe what you really don't?

your question is without sense(and I am answering even though I am a believer in God)
we not talking a "tangible item"
we talking about feelings which you don't know it will appear
it is like a guy carrying a bouquet of flowers everywhere, since he could encounter the girl of his dream just around the corner, in paper sounds nice, but eventually the bouquet will go bad, and get damaged and without any purpose, ready to be put on the trash
God would want the love of someone to be sincere, not because one wants to testify to it(without truly believing in it) "just in case"
anyway
it is better not to believe what you don't see, than to not show respect to what you believe(ones who do bad even thought they say they believe in God)
