I was wondering...are they going to give me Vista Ultimate or are they going to give me Vista Home Basic or something in-between?

Just like it is for XP, the standard offer will be Vista Home for the home user, and Vista Pro for the corporate user. All the options will most likely be available to the home user for an additional fee all the way up to ultimate edition.
Personally I will opt for the Pro edition as I do not need media center.

As far as I know, Windows Vista Home Premium will be on consumer-based laptops and Vista Business on business-oriented laptops (HP, IBM).

more than likeley Vista Home premium which is equivalent to XP Media CTR 95/xp Pro
