52 other nations besides America have adopted English as their official language. It sounds normal to me.
Printing all documents in several languages costs American citizens money. People who want to live in America should learn English, as all immigrants in the past 250 years have.
People should not be able to demand services from the American government in any other language but English.
Would you move to a country without learning the language?

The only option for a written or spoken language ANYWHERE in this country should be English! Legal immigrants are required to learn it as part of their naturalization so why are we catering to those who don't know it when they don't belong here anyway? The national language should be ENGLISH and English only!! Look at the two American flags at the bottom of this page. One for English and one for Spanish. That makes me sick.

I think Nevada really needs to get over themselves! What does it hurt for people to do business in Spanish and why in the world could someone not fly a flag( I agree it should be beside our flag) from a coUNtry that they may have visited or that they were born in? This is truly un American to me!

i think it makes sense to fly the other countries flag WITH the american flag, that seems very patriotic. but the whole thing about what language the buisness will speak sounds stupid! does that mean that if a spanish speaking person was prosecuted, they would not be allowed a translator, or a spanish speaking lawyer? And what is all this discrimination against hispanics??? all of a sudden immigrant has become synonomous with hispanic, and that's not right! That law has nothing to do with illigal immigration, and everything to do with discrimination! so much for land of the free, and we're a far cry from home of the brave!!

Legal immigrants are required to learn English, so I see no reason for us to conduct business in any other language. Don't want to speak English, go back where you came from. I'm tired of having the illegals catered to. Speak English or get out! Come here legally or get out! Abide by the laws of our country or get out!!!!! As far as the flag, I think it should be illegal to fly a Foriegn flag, except for at consulate and related buildings. I'm sick of seeing Mexican flags. If you like Mexico so much, go back there!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree absolutely with Mendi ... stupid and unconstitutional.

Why is it that the exact same people trying to prove what "patriotic Americans" they are, HAVE NO EFFING CLUE WHAT "FREE SPEECH" MEANS???

The First Amendment is just empty "liberal B.S." to them.

"Land of the free" is just words they sing with patriotic fervor before ball games, and is forgotten by the time they shout for the beer-man.

Freedom is just something we talk about in 7th grade civics ... but when they're of voting age, and someone proposes a law prohibiting a certain political statement (like flying a flag), they say "sounds OK to me."

Flying a flag is speech! If I choose to fly an Irish flag on St. Patrick's day, or to protest U.S. support of British policies in Ireland, or to support U.S. policies in Northern Ireland, or because I just bought an Irish pub, or just because I like the damn colors ... these so-called "patriots" are happy saying "nope ... that is on the list of statements PROHIBITED by law."

And smiley is dead on correct as well ... are we now denying translators to people in court cases? I guess, as long as we're selling out the 1st Amendment at the drop of a hat, might as well sell out the 5th and 14th Amendments too. After all, it's just words.

Some Americans just don't deserve America.

I'm guessing that the part about having to fly the US flag when you fly another countries flag will be struck down as unconstitutional. As for what language official business will be conducted in, I don't really care either way.

So what is your question? Actually, no one should be able to fly any other flag from another country because it is a sign that you claim that land and have invaded it. There are cases where businesses that are owned by other companies outside of the US where they are permitted to fly their native country's flag along with the US flag. I would love to see legislation passed on a federal level that makes English our official language, you have to fly the US flag with AND HIGHER than any other flag, and all business is conducted in English. Wonderful idea.

Actually, in alot of states, a foreign flag has to be flown beside the US flag! English is the official language of this country, so city business needs to be conducted in English! It shows respect for this country!
