Kinetic energy is the energy that a body possesses as a result of its movement. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body from rest to its current velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes. If speed decrease by 2 energy decreases by 2*2 = 4 if speed decreases 3 times energy will decrease 3*3= 9

Kinetic energy = 1/2 m * v^2
let v=1 and let m = 1
m remains constant
1/2 * 1 * 1^2= 1/2

now let v2 = 1/2 v1

1/2 * 1 * (1/2)^2 = 1/8 which is 4 times smaller than 1/2

the answer is 4
