Have u read the history of Justinian (when he became a king [527–565])?Have u know about what he did to the paganism (Manicheans&Sabbatians)? Have u read a book by Procopius, a historical person in Byzantine era, The Secret History, about Justinian&his wife,Thedora,&really good 4 ppl like Pope Benedict XVI and I don’t think Pope has read this book because he is lack of knowledge about his religion’s history. What Justinian did to people that believe in Hellenism, people that has not been Baptist yet and then who is not convert to Xtian? Read also the history of Mozarabs, Cordoba (Spain)&their “Visigothic Code/Canon Law”. Then read a book, “The Original Work Bartoleme de Las Casas, A Brief Account of the Devastation of the Indies” about wat Pope Alexander IV, Christopher Columbus & Xtian army did?I hope sum of Xtian (especially Pope) has read these books because if they never read this, they should shame wit non-Xtian that has read these book. All these books are not written by Muslim!

No, I haven't read all of those books (or any of them actually). -- BTW, you don't mention whether you have read them yourself.

I am familiar with a lot of the material you describe. I suspect the Pope is as well. His previous job was "watchdog" over Christian doctrine. You can't very well protect the Faith if you don't know what you are protecting it against.

And yes... many Christians... even some Popes... have not been very nice people (to put it mildly). Just because you believe in Jesus doesn't mean you are neccessarily very good at following his teachings.

Also, remember that a lot of the authors of those books had a serious axe to grind against the Church. That doesn't mean that what they describe didn't happen, but they certainly put the events in the worse possible light (and maybe exaggerate here and there?).

Try looking for books on these topics that are written from a Christian point of view without whitewashing the sins of our forebearers.

I have not read these books, but it seems they are about atrocities against non-Christians. OK. I believe it. I know some basic history and I know that many people who claimed to be Christians did horrible things to non-Christians in the past. Had these people truly read and studied and known God's holy word, and had they been true followers of Christ in the way I understand what being a true Christian is, they wouldn't have done what they did.

I won't say they weren't true Christians, because I cannot know what any individual has going on between himself and God, but I will say that bad people do bad things, and use religion (many religions are used this way, not just Christianity) as an excuse.

I'm sorry for what they did, and I acknowledge that they did it. Don't pin it on me, and please don't deny the truth that Jesus died for our sins and that we are children of God just because of some evil men.

All the Revelations of the One True God are divinely perfect.
Although there are bad leaders and false believers in various communities, the Cause of God is eternally the highest education. Man learns religious lessons from the Books of God, not from the leaders or the believers. Man cannot judge them either, because only the omnipotence and omniscience of God can grant just rewards and punishments.
Criticism against each other can only cause thicker darkness to our world; the bright way is to learn independently and to practice individually the sacred verses. The world will become better with each man becoming better.

How naive...Off course Christians have some horrific history, so do the Muslims, Hindus, and all other religions. DO you know why? because all religion is nothing but a way for those in power to manipulate the masses.

i'm no longer particular about generalities. i ought to say some believers are banned from reading such books and others (Harry Potter, His darkish substances sequence, and so on). What circumstances make some works of fiction digestible and others no longer looks as arbitrary as faith to me.

Only kindness matters. All that intellectual fluff does is justify violence against others. The Rollings Stones said it well: "he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke the same cigarette as me."

NO ONE's information is complete. How many books does it take to learn to be kind?

I haven't heard of those, but I have done some studying of the early Christian Church, and appreciate the further recommendations to look into.

Thanks

Ecclesiastes 12:12
And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.
