I know the date/time, do I need this paper? What happens if I don't have it?

You will not need the subpoena when you appear. The subpoena is the document the court uses to order you to appear, nothing more. If you need the subpoena to justify missing a day of school or work, the DA's office or the issuing attorney can provide you with a duplicate copy.

You don't need it. A subpoena is merely the document legally required to notify a person that they are to appear in court. You won't need it to get in the door.

Just call the attorney who issued it
Or call the court who issued it. tell them what happened.
