or did you have to work at it? The sky, the earth, the trees...you must have worked real hard, until your beard turned white, to believe that there no God. I guess no one made your watch, too!

I wasn't always an atheist. I'm 15 and the rest of my family is Christian but from the repetitive contradicting bullshit and irrational thinking that the Church put out I found atheism.

Ah yes, close with an allusion to the old 'dropped watch' parable. Quite a favorite of mine, really. Only, to be accurate, it should read a bit more like this:

The scientist: "Ah, look, a watch on the ground. This tells me that on this planet, life began evolving millions upon millions of years ago. Eventually it must have reached a level of intelligence that allowed it to both acquire the technical knowledge to fabricate such a device, as well as the mental capacity to comprehend the flow of time and be concerned enoguh eith it to want to keep track. I wonder, was this watch dropped here by accident?"

The religous man: "Oh-ho! A watch upon the ground! Certainly such a complex device could not have gotten here on its own! I believe that it must have been created instantly out of nothingness (or clay, or whatever) and placed here for some reason utterly unfathomable to anyone but himself. This watch is so complicated, there is clearly NO OTHER POSSIBLE manner in which it could have come to lie here, other than perhaps some diety who knew he would pass by from time to time, listen to the ticking, and look down to check the hour. This wonderful and mysterious watch, how it must wait here faithfully for the moment that its Creator will return to pick it up and put it back in His pocket, once he has decided that it has lain here on the ground long enough. Certainly it is not here, this valuable watch, lying on the ground, in the dirt, in terrible danger of being trod upon, by accident! No, it is by the specific design of some higher intelligence that it came to lie precisely here."

"Guess I'd better to give some watchmaker a tithe of my earnings, no matter if my children go hungry or not..."

:D
