No, for many reasons that have been mentioned earlier.
In addition, Iraq and Israel simply do not share a common border. First, they would have had to fight their way across either Syria or Jordan.
And even if they decided to do that, they would have had nothing left over to fight Iraq with. The IDF (as it's name declairs) is set up as a Defense Force. Much like the Japanese Defense Force. While very capable of an intense fight close to or in it's home country, it lacks the logistical capability of operating either in an extended Offensive capability, or removed from their home country.

I meant to give that guy a thumbs up..oh well.
No. Since Israel shares no common border with Iraq, it would have to either get agreement to cross it's forces through Syria or Jordon (and that wasn't going to happen) or declare war on then both simultaneously. As the other guy said, that basically would have sparked an everybody-against-Israel war. Israel might have been able to win due to her technology and training, but the recent war with Hizballah shows maybe they wouldn't have. Even if they did win, how could they occupy two countries with a combined size more than 15 times it's size? It would spell the end of israel if they tried some crazy shiite like that.

No.
IDF is too small, Lacks the logistics for long distance operation & based on there performance this summer they need some practice first. While the IDF is a highely skilled & equiped force, they lack the bases, airlift, sealift, Logistics & manpower to do the job.

No. It's all they can do to keep Hamas and Hezbollah out. The Israelis basically had to get out of the last Lebanon conflict because they could not even put down Hezbollah. As far as Iraq goes, the expense of a prolonged engagement in Iraq would have bankrupted the Israeli economy.

I think so...they have shown great restraint with the terrorists in Gaza due to limiting collateral damage...if they'd gone into Iraq, they would have used ALL available weapons systems and kicked ***.
