But he told me that I have to appear at court. Is this the same as a speeding ticket? Because when ever I got a speeding ticket, they would ask for my registration along with my license.

I have been recieving letters from lawyers who are trying to defend me. Is this really a ticket or not?

A uniform citation is just the "form" that what is commonly refereed to as a ticket is written on. If you were issued a citation for a violation that is what you are calling a ticket. The violation will be spelled out on the citation: to wit speeding, improper passing, etc. As for not asking for the registration the Officer does not really need it to issue the citation, all the information that he needs is the type of car and license number. Hope this helps.

Did the officer give you a citation? If so, you have to appear in court at the date and time indicate on the citation. If the officer did not give you a citation, you likely do not have to appear in court. I am unaware of any place where the officer can verbally order you to appear in court and have that order hold legal weight.

Your registration has no relevancy to the ticket. What were you charged with on the citation?
