Most schools do vision checks and will alert you to any problems. Also ask the teacher if she seems to have any trouble seeing the blackboard. Just be aware at home, does she seem to be able to see the television from a distance? When she reads does she hold the book at a normal distance, or does she squint at it and have to pull it closer. As long as you go to a reputable eye doctor, he won't put her in glasses if she doesn't need them.

The school gives all the kids eye exams every year, and if there is a problem they will be sure to tell you and wont leave you alone about it until you bring them a letter from your optimalogist stating that they have examened your child. Also does your child squint to see the TV? To see the black board? Or sometimes kids widen thier eyes. Do her eyes cross a little? Just watch her without her knowing.

You probably can't! Were you referred by the school or are you just going to get it checked for the first time?
I didn't notice any issues with my daughter's eyes, until she began to complain about not being able to see the board.Quick trip to the eye dr. and a new pair of glasses fixed that. Within a year, her eyes had changed enough, she didn't need them. Her eye dr. said that young children's eyes change alot every year.

Most schools require a routine eye exam. Once your child has had the exam, you will know if there is a problem when the optometrist tells you!

They'll give her the test and then notify you if they see there's a problem. Has she been having trouble seeing things lately? Squinting alot? Holding things closer or farther away? Complaining of headaches? Those are all signs that there's something wrong with her sight. Don't worry though, they'll give her the test and then let you know how her vision is and if they see there's a problem with anything.
