If you're a good person and don't believe in god but believe in morals and ethics, why would god punish you just because you were unable to believe in something so superstitious? Would a person who believes in god but doesn't behave properly have a better chance of getting to heaven if he or she prays a lot over a person who never prays but has a pure heart?

never mind the bible thumpers. If there is a god, which is a heated debate, the idea that he would punish good people is asinine.

calling yourself a godly person just because you go to church makes about as much sense as calling yourself a doctor because you went to the hospital.

There is one unforgivable sin -- blaspheme of the Holy Spirit, which is saying that there is no God. Being a good person is great but it won't get you to heaven and it definitely won't wash away your sins.

Will you be punished for not believing? Absolutely. Can you be forgiven? Absolutely, by accepting Christ as your savior. "All come short of the glory of God". That's why Jesus was sent -- to take away our sins so that we can be cleansed and made worthy to be in His presence. Once one is saved that person must make a serious attempt to follow the teaching of our Lord. There are many people who go to church on Sunday after spending Saturday night drinking and fornicating. We are taught to turn from sin, but that doesn't mean that we are perfect; that's why the Lord, who loves us so much, gave his life so that we can be forgiven.

The Bible tells us "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness and all ye ask will be given to you." "Pray without ceasing" that He shows you the way. I will pray for you, also. Hell is as eternal as heaven and once we have taken our last breath on this earth, there is no way to change the direction.

God Bless

People go to an eternity in Hell because they choose to do so. There is plenty of evidence to study which would lead any intelligent person to the only intelligent choice there is to make -faith in God and in His Word, The Holy Bible. Romans tells us that the attributes of God can be plainly seen in creation and thus all men who reject the Lord are without excuse. There is an overwhelming amount of evidence to support the existence of God and the accuracy and validity of the Bible, especialy in North America and other "civilized" nations. If you choose not to look at the evidence and simply dismiss it out of hand then you are responsible for your actions and no one else. There is no need for anyone to go to Hell, people simply choose that path because of sin and rebellion against God and foolish pride.

God WILL punish you for breaking His commandments whether you believe in Him or not.

Are you a GOOD person? Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen something? Jesus said " Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her in his heart" Have you ever looked with lust?

It is violating His commanments that sends you to Hell.

But God doesn't want you to go there, He loves you so much that He sent his Son to take your punishment upon Himself on the cross. Then He rose from the dead, defeating death.

If you repent, and put your trust in Jesus, God will forgive you and grant you eternal life.

God is just, no man can claim of justice before Him.
He sees our actions and He reads our hearts, so we don't have to fear anything, if we think good and do good. Befeore His eyes the hypocrites and the virtuous are as different as coal and diamond.
The problem for man is that He cannot know what is good, if he rejects the truthful standard of God. What is good before the eye of God is true goodness; what is good before man's eyes may be a fake, a disguise, a show...There is no way to prove man's goodness, including mine and yours.

Romans 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Romans 2:15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

God will Judge you by what you are given, hard for any American arround Christmas time not to know about the LORD JESUS CHRIST

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

god punishes sinners. everyone sins. death is punishment for that sin. without atonement, then we'd all go to hell. however, some folks accept that atonement thru christ.

it's not a matter of being good. it's a matter of accepting god's grace. ethics won't save.

If you do not understand the bible or who God is, you can seek someone that can help you to know this. You can also pray for guidance to understand Him.

No. However, if you are disharmonious on Earth, he will quarantine you away from the harmony loving folks of Heaven.

Only religious empires require certain rituals and worship conditions for them to state that you will go to Heaven.

Actually, God thinks that worship is repulsive.
