A wiccan is a witch who practices black magic. Black magic is power that comes from evil. Evil is satan. Stay away from this evil. Turn to Jesus Christ for your power and healing. Don't let satan rule your life. There are many books that will mess you up. Turn to the Holy Bible for truth that will last you a lifetime.

Most modern Wiccans are followers of traditions set in place by a man named Gerald Gardiner, who had studied what was available from the more ancient pagan religions of Great Britain (of which there are still a few traditional initiatic lineages), and combined that with various other systems of High Magic (such as Golden Dawn type Theurgy) and low magic to create a new form of Paganism. There are a multitude of books availbale on the subject, as well a a large following around the world. Take a surf around the internet, and you'll find covens-o-plenty!

PS The term Wiccan does not mean Satan-worshiper. it only refers to the practice of or a follower of the Pagan movement (which is also not Satan worship), a very nature based belief system.

You want to be Wiccan...Start with Cunningham's Wicca: A guide for the Solitary Practioner - mostly harmless and good for getting your feet wet. Then look at some books like Valiente's Witchcraft for Tommorow and Adler's Drawing Down the Moon - these will give the history so you know where your religion's roots lie and why we believe what we believe. Then go to http://www.zodiacbistro.com - there is a list there of beginners books that really are the best you should read to learn the meat and potatoes of the religion. Steer clear of the Frost's books unless you buy into the sick idea of sexually innitiating children into the craft.

After you've got the basics - throw the books away! There is no such thing as a Wicca 202 book...after you have the basics this is a religion based on experiences, so go outside get close to nature. Practice spellwork. Keep a journal of everything - that is a true Book of Shadows, not page after page of correspondences. Good luck and if you need anymore info, feel free to contact me through my 360 on my Answers profile - I've been practicing for over 10 years and teach Wicca myself, if I can't answer any questions you have, I will help you find the answers.

A Wiccan is a follower of Wicca, which is a system of nature worship "slightly" more structured than Paganism. Ignore all answers on here stating that it has anything to do with Satan. We don't believe in Satan, since he is a Christian invention.

A Wiccan is also not a male witch. Men and women are both simply called witches (warlocks are something else entirely).

Start with www.witchvox.com for some general information on the path.

Blessed be!

A Wiccan is one that is initiated into a Wiccan tradition.
So not a self initiation or self dedication but a coven group initiation.

Starhawk- The Spiral Dance.

Wicca is based on the ancient Pagan beliefs. It is basic Pantheism (nature worship) and has NOTHING to do with any "Satan" character!
