Hades and Hell (actually Hel) were not places, they were god and goddess (respectively) of the Underworld.

Hades rules over the Underworld. It contains both our concepts of heaven and hell. For them Tatarus is Hell. The Elysian Fields and Isle of the Blest would be considered Heaven.

No.

Hades is not a place. Hades is the God of the Underworld. The Underworld is where ALL spirits go after death. You don't go to the Underworld because you were "bad" or "sinned" or "rejected Zeus". You go to the Underworld because you have died.

Blessed be!

Yep, and you travelled across the river Styx by ferry to get there.
You pay the ferryman in silver, but do not pay him until you reach the other side, or he will throw you overboard, and you will be dragged under by the spirits of the lost and damned!
