The apt. that I live in has very hard water, and I would rather take a bath over a shy. However, everytime I take a bath, the soap solidifies and causes a nasty ring around the tub. Am I getting clean or am I remaining dirty. Even, when I do decide 2 take a shower, I still feel so dirty. I use Dial soap, but the water wont lather up good. Could someone give me some advice, please Btw, I cant afford a water purfier right now.

Bath salts are good for this. I just went looking (Google) and found a number of recipes. Most include oils and aromatics, which are optional. What isn't optional is sodium. Sodium ions displace the calcium and magnesium ions that make water hard, and that's what a water softener does. One recipe called for 1/2 cup plain salt and 1 tablespoon each baking soda and borax. You could try just plain salt, too. Experiment with the amount to see how much you need. I hope it works! It won't hurt you, anyway.

Yes, you are still getting clean regardless of hard water. Try switching to Dove soap, it lather's way better in hard water then Dial does. I see one answer to you suggested the city might help you with a softener. I'm here to tell you that will not happen. The city supplies you in water they aren't going to be interested in weather its hard water or not. You want soft water, you pay for a water softener yourself.

Hard water (water with a high mineral content) will get you just as clean as water without.

Even with soft water you will get a ring around the tub. Tubs need to be cleaned every so often, this is a fact of life.

Hard water simply has more minerals in it. It's not bad for your skin and yes, don't worry, you're getting clean. It can leave hard water stains in the tub, but then again, soap leaves soap scum in the tub.

Use a little baking soda in your bath. It softens the water and makes your soap more bubbly. ;)

check with the city water department and see if they can help you with a water softener or see if they offer any other solutions
