Depends on what you want--Mercedes is more classic and refined, BMW is more sporty.
I've owned both, and find Mercedes more reliable and a better ride, BMW a much better sports car (handling, weight distribution).
BMW is more youthful if you're going for that...

Although Mercedes is expensive it has always been a very reliable car, BMW on the other hand has been known to be good for the first 50,000 miles then **** starts to happen, so I would go for mercedes any day.

If it's status you're after, you're insecure?? People who need these cars have no identitiy, personally I've had BMW's, mostly junks, benz's too. Buy AMERICAN.

I think that depends on you and what you like more. ( the type of car you drive really says nothing except that you can afford to drive it ) now if you are looking at value " what you get for the money" in my opinion there's nothing better than an acura, you get everything! the only option is a nav system. but again it's up to you and what you think.
